Occlusal (Bite) Therapy
Occlusal (biting) trauma occurs when either excessive force with function is present or compromised support of the teeth occurs (bone loss). This leads to mobile or loose teeth.
Occlusal therapy may be a simple as reshaping an individual tooth or as involved as full orthodontic tooth movement, adjustment of all the teeth to make them function harmoniously when biting or splinting (stabilizing multiple teeth together to decrease effect on any single tooth).
A complete occlusal (bite) evaluation is performed prior to recommending the most appropriate treatment for tooth mobility.
