Meet Robert M. Benedon, DMD

Robert M. Benedon grew up in North Jersey, and is a graduate of Rutgers College (BA in Biological Science, 1977) and the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine (DMD, 1981). After one year of practicing general dentistry, he returned to Penn for Post-Doctoral training, earning a Certificate in Periodontics in 1984. That same year, he launched his private practice in Cherry Hill.
Known as a perfectionist, Dr. Benedon treats his patients as if they were family. He has been listed among:

Dr. Benedon has had the privilege of teaching at Penn for more than 40 years, beginning when he was a senior dental student. Currently, as a Clinical Professor of Periodontics, he teaches and lectures in the Post-Doctoral Periodontics program. In 1986, he received the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine’s Joseph Appleton Award for Excellence as a part-time faculty member.

In South Jersey, Dr. Benedon is a member of the Virtua West Jersey Hospital Dental staff, lecturing and consulting regularly with the dental residents. He is also an annual guest lecturer at Camden County Community College’s School of Dental Hygiene. Internationally, he was invited to address the Post-Doctoral students in Periodontics at Hadassah Hospital in Jerusalem in August 2005, November 2007 and again in August 2009.
When not practicing Periodontics, Dr. Benedon’s passion for community involvement occupies his spare time. He serves on the boards of numerous civic, charitable, and educational organizations, holding leadership roles on both the local and national levels. He has been recognized for his volunteerism with numerous awards, including the Jewish Federation of Southern New Jersey’s Shelli Greenspun Young Leadership Award in 2002, and Camden County’s Martin Luther King Jr. Freedom Medal in 2004.
He has been married since 1978 to his wife, Pamela and they are the proud parents of three sons. They have lived in Cherry Hill since 1981.
